Rustins Wood Dye

WOOD DYE – For use on bare wood prior to finishing with any of Rustin’s wood finishes. Quick drying penetrating stain, does not raise the grain. Supplied in 11 shades, which may be intermixed to make an infinite variety of natural wood shades. Suitable for interior and exterior use.

Application – Using a rag, apply an even, wet coat and wipe off any excess.  The result will be much darker on softwoods than on hardwoods.  For a lighter shade, dilute with White Spirit, 2 parts dye to 1 part White Spirit.

Coats – Usually 1 application is sufficient, or 2 for a darker colour

Drying Time -1-2 hours under normalconditions, depending on the absobency of the wood

Re-coating Time – 2-4 hours typically, but preferably overnight if applying water-based varnishes.

Coverage – Upto 24m² per Litre, depending on the absobency of the wood
